Needs some overhauling

I have 2 of these that I've been using for 5 or 6 years. Once it's set up, it works great. However, the side rails were very sticky and sometimes needed 2 people to pull them apart. I used a grinder to shrink the insert.

pieces so they'd fit right. At the very least you'll need to grease them.

Then, the pockets for the side rails are very tight. They can be a real bear to get in and out. They need a pull tab on each side so you can get hold of the fabric. I popped the end caps off the 4 end pieces on the side rails and cut 1/2" off of each. Now they're FAR easier to get in and out.

Do yourself a favor and spend the money to get the Ready Lite cot. I have one of those, too. It's infinitely easier to set up and take down, it weighs less than half of this one, plus it packs in 1/3 of the space.

Great cot

My wife and I are Scout leaders and camp frequently. As we have gotten older we found it more and more difficult to sleep on the ground in tents. We discovered the ALPS lightweight cot and love it. It's a little too big for long hiking/backpacking trips but for canoe trips or scout-camp camping trips it is perfect. It has a very easy to set, gets you off the ground high enough to put a few things under the cot but not so high you are hitting your head on the tent roof. The legs do not damage the floor of the tent. We use ALPS meremac 3 tents. A taller cot (as in higher off the floor) like a camp cot would not work as well.

Set up is easy and it stores well in the included bag. In cold weather we put our extra cloths and gear under the cot and a thin sleeping pad on the cot and stay warm as can be. In hot and humid summers the air flow under the cot makes camping in the deep south summer almost bearable.

We are very happy with these cots and have been using them for 5 years or more.

Comfortable sleep

Great little cot for car camping. Easy to transport to the camp site and ensures no rocks or sticks. Easy setup & fit in my 2 man tent
