Ready Lite Cot | 8201111 |
Love this cot! It is great for backpacking or long term camping! I grew tired of sleeping on the ground with a foam/air pad. This get you off the ground just enough and provides great support. Super light!
I've been using this for a couple of years. It's a great improvement over Alps 11 lb 'lightweight' cot. It's much easier to assemble and take down, stores in 1/3 of the space, and weighs half as much. You'll need some kind of pad on top of it. In cold weather, any cot needs insulation or you'll freeze. When it gets below freezing, I use an insulated air mattress plus an ensolite pad on top of it and I've stayed plenty warm.
Comparing this to other backpacking cots, it's the strongest I've seen. Some of them are very flimsy and will fail. This one is very strong.
First off, this cot stores in a very small, included bag. Don't let the size of the bag fool you. Once assembled, the cot is big enough for my 6'1" height and nearly 300 lbs. I use an ALPS air pad on top of the cot and experienced much improved sleep over a sleeping bag on the ground or on a self-inflating pad and bag. One night on this cot will assure you it is worth the cost.
