Extreme 2 Orange/Gray | 5232642 |
I just invested in my first set of camping gear that's all my own (been borrowing gear up till now) and doing loads of research. I actually first purchased a similar 2 person tent in the same price range from a big brand competitor and the Alps Extreme 2 blows it out of the water in every category! The care and quality in the design and construction is apparent from the moment i pulled the tent out of the bag. Built in cinch straps on the tent bag, chunky zippers, quality gauge nylon, extra elastic ties for the poles so they don't get tangled in their bag, extra ties for the tent roll so it slides in the bag more compactly, nicely constructed foot-print. And that's not even speaking of the tent itself which is comfortable, sturdy, lightning fast to set up, and well designed. I"m gushing because i'm seriously in love with this tent, it's perfect!
I have both the 2 and 3 person versions and have used them regularly over the years. Scouting events and family camping. Hot weather, freezing cold Klondike Scout events...no issues at all. Definitely recommend.
I have this tent now three seasons . This past summer up in Georgian Bay kayak camping we picked a camp site late so not a great location it was all exposed. The weather turned really WINDY. Other tents collapsed. The wind by my guess was in the 40 with 50 mph gusts. it was EXTREME.. But my tent held . It was hard to get the tent fly to hold down as its all rock so used rocks to both hold the tent in place and rocks to hold fly. Needed bigger rocks which I couldn't find. So fly was tough to get to stay in place. The fly is a little to big in my opinion. It droops at the doors. Fix that and its perfect. If you want a tent that can survive extreme wind this is it.
