Meramac 2 Gray/Red | 5221642 |
I set this tent up on the side of a mountain, in gorgeous weather, in Alaska. The next morning a front moved in and pounded me with wind and rain for the next 10 days. The Meramac 2 withstood wind gusts in excess of 25 MPH. It kept me and my gear completely dry entire time. When I tore the tent down I discovered one of the poles was completely shredded. Even with that the tent never collapsed. I would have given it 5 stars had it not been for the broken pole.
This tent is nearly perfect. I slept in it for five days this past week. The rain fly works as it should, and I am glad that it did (nearly three inches of rain one evening). It was comfortable enough for me and my gear. The only minor flaws that I have found is that is does not allow for much air movement through the tent and one of the elastic cords in the tent poles snapped making a ten minute one person job for set up a three person thirty minute job. Other than that I would highly recommend this tent to anyone.
I found the tent easy to set up and take down. Easy to repack. Over a six week motorcycle trip I made camp over 25 times. Most were one night stands, the longest five nights. I used a twin size air mattress that touched on three edges and left a couple of feet for baggage on the one side. I could not stand in the tent. I have bought the Meramac 5 that is 6 foot in the center for my 2019 camping.
The quality and value of the tent is great. I was careful and had no issues, no tears, no broken poles, and never leaked. I did get cold when I camped at 8,000 feet in Flagstaff.
I would recommend this for anyone that does not have to stand in the middle of the night.
